Interesting facts

The more mature leaves develop openings when the plant reaches its adult stage. These openings are not merely ornamental. One of their functions is to allow light to reach the smaller foliage closest to the substrate.

In its life cycle, the Monstera begins by behaving like a shrub, but eventually becomes an epiphyte, meaning it develops aerial roots.
