What is a kokedama?
Kokedama is the reconversion of an ancient Japanese technique, where plants are wrapped in substrate and moss around their root ball. Kokedama is constructed entirely by hand, molding the soil and moss. It is based on the ancient bonsai technique.
These living structures are low maintenance, since the plants involved in this technique require less frequent watering than plants in regular pots.
Inspired by the concept of Wabi Sabi - the appreciation of nature's imperfection and acceptance of natural beauty - we teach how to take plants to another level.
FIOS kokedamas are unique! They're suspended by a thread, a technique we developed, creating original plant-based decor for indoor and outdoor spaces.
Challenge yourself to create your own hanging gardens, creating a different visual effect in plant decoration.
In this online kokedama technique course, divided into 9 modules, we teach you all the steps and tips for making your kokedamas.
FIOS Jardins Suspensos is an ambassador for this technique in Portugal and we want to share with you our knowledge developed since 2012.
