Preserved Kokedamas | Characteristics and Benefits
One of the great advantages of preserved kokedamas compared to natural kokedamas is that they don't need water or sunlightbecause they are preserved/stabilized.
The maintenance of this preserved material is ZERO!
These kokedamas are ideal for decorating interior spaces, especially commercial spaces with busy schedules that don't have extra time to care for plants.
It maintains its natural aesthetic without any maintenance. In addition to being natural, it is 100% sustainable.
Well-preserved kokedamas retain their beauty for a long period of time, usually years, and can be hung or placed on the floor.
However, to ensure that your preserved kokedamas remain vibrant for years, there are a few tricks you can do to extend their lifespan.
1. DO NOT PLACE IN ENVIRONMENTS WITH EXCESSIVE HUMIDITY.
If you choose to include a bathroom, for example, place it in a more ventilated or airy area.
Excess moisture can cause preserved plants to move or gain water droplets, which can cause them to drip/sweat their natural dye.
2. AVOID CONTACT WITH DIRECT SUNLIGHT
This requirement is very important for the preserved moss kokedama to last for years.
Direct sunlight discolors and dries out preserved moss and plants, and completely alters their colors and textures.
Ideally, place it in a location with indirect natural light, or even in spaces that don't receive natural light at all.
3. DO NOT PLACE NEAR AIR CONDITIONERS OR RADIATORS.
It is NOT advisable to place preserved kokedama near a radiator or air conditioner, as this can alter humidity levels and cause changes to the preserved plants.
4. Dusting
All the materials used in preserved kokedamas do not attract dust or insects.
However, if you want to clean it after some time, you can use a duster and wipe it with very gentle movements.
Note: Only if absolutely necessary.
5. TOUCH GENTLY
You can touch and feel the different natural textures of the plants. Just be careful, as preserved plants are delicate and can be damaged easily.
Tip: Preserved kokedamas stand out when placed in groups. This way you can create your hanging gardens without worrying about maintenance.
